Taking a leap of faith

Taking a leap of faith

If you are reading this, I truly appreciate your interest.  I retired from the US Navy in 2012, where I was an Aviation Electronics Technician on F/A-18's.  I took my experience from that and, with my knowledge of mechanics gained from working in my garage, began a job working on forklifts. As I got older, the exhaustion and wear/tear started taking its toll on my health. I then took a job as a manager in a retail setting that involved another personal interest that I won't mention. Both these jobs made me realize that I don't do well working for others. Making other people money at the expense of my health and loss of personal time just started getting old. Over the years, I regained interest in riding mountain bikes and dirt bikes, but I often had trouble finding clothing (especially shirts) from brands in these activities that would fit me. I've never been accused of being a little fella, but the years have added on a couple of extra inches.  A couple of years ago, while attending a NEPG Enduro race over in Alabama, I was standing at the starting line watching all the riders as they went through and started to notice that I wasn't the only old, overweight guy out there.  I joked to a friend that I should start a business (something I've never considered) offering clothing to plus-size riders. As the weekend and the following week passed, I couldn't stop thinking about that joke.  For now, I'm a very small operation working out of my house and just trying to figure out how to get things started. Obviously, I'm starting with T-shirts and whatnot, but even with that, I never realized how few options were available for larger-sized, custom-printed clothing that was comfortable. I then realized why I couldn't find it with other brands. If this venture works, I eventually plan on finding manufacturers for actual riding apparel (ie, jerseys, pants, shorts, etc.) so I can bring larger sizes in those offerings. In the grand scheme, I just want to find a way to make a living that supports doing what I enjoy, will allow me to go to events to meet all of you like-minded people, and one day be able to give back to these communities. If you've made it this far... thank you, thank you, thank you for your time, and hopefully our paths will cross (without crashing) out there!
